Lufthansa City Airlines signs crew labor deal
Lufthansa City Airlines has reached a comprehensive collective labor agreement with the ver.di union, covering both cockpit and cabin crew.
The agreement establishes a unified framework for pay and working conditions, providing stability for the airline as it continues to expand its operations. It will take effect retroactively from April 1, 2026, and is set to run for at least three years.
The deal includes adjustments to salary structures as well as provisions for working conditions, company pension plans and performance-based compensation. It also introduces standardized terms for both flight and cabin crew, aimed at improving operational efficiency and consistency.
According to Lufthansa City Airlines, the agreement reflects the preferences of its workforce, with a majority of employees choosing ver.di as their representative union. Company executives said the partnership provides a solid foundation for future growth and workforce development.
The airline expects the agreement to support its competitiveness in the European short-haul market, particularly at its hubs in Munich and Frankfurt, where competition remains intense.
The deal is also seen as a step toward creating new jobs and career opportunities in Germany, while ensuring planning certainty for the airline’s next phase of development. Final implementation remains subject to approval by the relevant committees.
