LOT marks 10 years of Warsaw–Cluj route

LOT Polish Airlines is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Warsaw–Cluj-Napoca route, highlighting a decade of steady growth and strong passenger demand.

 

Since launching the service in 2016, the airline has continuously expanded capacity on the route, increasing from four weekly flights to as many as nine per week in the 2026 summer schedule. Over the past decade, LOT has operated 4,671 flights between the two cities, carrying more than 270,000 passengers.

The route has become an important part of the airline’s Central and Eastern European network, offering convenient connections through its Warsaw hub. Flights are operated using Embraer aircraft, providing passengers with efficient travel and onward connectivity.

Cluj-Napoca, the largest city in Romania’s Transylvania region, has grown in popularity as both a cultural destination and a business hub. Known for its historic centre, festivals and vibrant food scene, the city is also a key centre for the IT and outsourcing industries, often referred to as Romania’s “Silicon Valley.”

The Romanian market remains a strategic focus for LOT Polish Airlines, which currently operates regular services to Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Oradea. The addition of Oradea in 2024 further expanded the airline’s regional network and strengthened links between Poland and Romania.

The anniversary underscores the importance of the Warsaw–Cluj connection in supporting both tourism and business travel across the region.
