KLM Adjusts Flights Amid Middle East Turmoil
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has issued a statement outlining a series of flight suspensions and cancellations affecting services to and from the Middle East amid ongoing regional unrest and significant airspace closures.
The Dutch carrier is avoiding the airspace over Iran, Iraq, Israel and parts of the Gulf region, a move driven by heightened geopolitical tensions and safety concerns. As a result, flights between Amsterdam and destinations such as Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam have been cancelled through March 5, with affected passengers notified and rebooking underway. Additionally, services to Tel Aviv have been temporarily suspended starting March 1, as the airline deemed operations to that destination neither commercially nor operationally viable under current conditions.
The situation comes amid broader disruptions to aviation in the Middle East, with regional airspace closures and rerouted or cancelled flights across the industry as tensions escalate. Passengers booked on affected routes are being offered rebooking options, refunds or travel vouchers, and KLM says it continues to monitor developments closely to update schedules as conditions evolve.
Safety remains the carrier’s top priority, and the airline has urged travellers to check the latest flight information through official channels before travelling.
