CEO of Othership Dreams of Expanding Urban Bathhouses Across North America

Othership, the Urban Wellness Brand, Sets Sights on North American Expansion for Its Social Bathhouse Concept, Says CEO and Co-founder Robbie Bent.
Othership, a leading urban wellness brand, is gearing up for an extensive expansion across North America, as CEO and co-founder Robbie Bent unveils a remarkable vision.
Their urban destinations, blending the art of contrast bathing, breathwork, and guided emotional regulation, offer individuals an opportunity to reconnect with themselves and their communities. With a repertoire of 28 unique classes, Othership hosts large-scale sauna and ice-bath sessions that combine elements of the traditional Aufguss sauna experience with therapeutic techniques such as visualization, group sharing, breathwork, vocal toning, and music to foster both relaxation and emotional well-being.
The flagship 3,000-square-meter studio, which opened its doors in Ontario, Canada, in 2022, boasts a 50-person sauna and four ice baths. The tremendous success of their inaugural location led to the launch of another studio in November, featuring eight ice baths and a colossal 90-person performance sauna, acclaimed as the largest in North America.
Each Othership studio adheres to a similar blueprint, featuring a performance sauna, multiple ice baths, and communal areas that encourage social interaction among members.
Bent revealed exciting plans for expansion into New York City, with two forthcoming locations in Williamsburg and Flat Iron. The Flat Iron location is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2024. Bent emphasized that New York was a strategic choice due to its status as the largest city in North America, renowned for its vibrant art, technology scene, and diverse populace. Additionally, Othership aims to combat the epidemic of loneliness and isolation prevalent in the city.
The ambitious team is actively scouting potential destinations in other major cities, including Chicago, Boston, Washington, and Miami, with the ultimate goal of establishing Othership spaces, fostering social interaction, and inspiring urban communities across North America.
The grand vision is to provide studios where urban dwellers can make new connections, enhance their well-being, socialize without relying on alcohol, and explore their emotions in a supportive environment.
Bent explained, 'We believe that our mission to help individuals find more meaning in their lives through emotional well-being practices aligns perfectly with the bustling energy of major cities. Our pricing is significantly more accessible than traditional spas, encouraging people to visit more frequently for the purpose of forging connections and socializing.'
Othership offers a range of membership options, from long-term commitments to short-term drop-in visits, with prices ranging from CAD$33 (US$25, €23, £19) to CAD$55 (US$41, €38, £32) per individual journey.
The demographic appeal of Othership's studios is remarkably broad, attracting visitors aged 22 to 75, reflecting the universal need for emotional well-being and social connection.
