Carnival to Build New €30m Cruise Terminal in Barcelona
Cruise News

Carnival Corporation has closed a deal with the Port Authority of Barcelona to start construction on its second private cruise terminal – which is expected to cost more than €30m. The Port of Barcelona is currently used by seven of Carnival's 10 cruise line brands as both a destination and home port.
As part of the understanding, the Port Authority decided to give Carnival Corporation administrative concessions to operate the cruise terminal and gave the all-clear for a new parking facility at the fourth busiest port in the world and Europe's largest port.

The new terminal will be one of the largest one in Europe, with an area of 11,500 square meters. In addition, Carnival Corporation will construct the first public parking, located on the cruise pier, offering travellers convenient access to more than 300 parking spaces.
Michel Nestour, managing director of Carnival Corporation terminal operations in Barcelona, said: "As an all-new, next-generation cruise facility, the terminal will be built to improve the overall cruise experience for Carnival Corporation's guests."
"This will include making it convenient for guests, whether they are arriving at the pier to begin a cruise vacation, disembarking following the completion of a cruise or simply visiting Barcelona as one of the ports of call on a cruise. In all cases, we are looking to exceed guest expectations through every stage of the cruise experience, and this new terminal will be built to reach that goal." Added Michel.
In 2014, the Port of Barcelona had 764 cruise calls and over 2.36 million passenger movements across its six existing terminals.
Carnival Corporation operates four additional global ports, including Grand Turk Cruise Center in Turks and Caicos Islands; Mahogany Bay in Roatan, Honduras; Puerta Maya in Cozumel, Mexico; and Long Beach in California. Carnival Corporation also operates two private island destinations in the Caribbean, Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays.
