Air France, Delta to Appoint New Ground Handler at Schiphol

Mergers and Appointments (MICE)

Air France and Delta Air Lines have announced plans to appoint a new ground handling partner at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, replacing KLM for below-the-wing services such as baggage loading and unloading.

The two carriers have formally notified KLM of their decision and will now invite proposals from alternative service providers. A final selection will follow, determining which company will assume responsibility for the below-the-wing operations at Schiphol.

This move will have direct operational consequences for KLM, particularly within its Ground Services department. While the long-term impacts are still being evaluated, the decision may carry financial and employment-related implications, which are currently under review.

KLM has yet to issue a detailed public response but is expected to assess the operational and workforce-related effects in the coming weeks.

This change comes amid ongoing efforts by airline alliances and partners to optimize costs and efficiency at major hubs across Europe.
