World FZO AICE Conference 2022 hosted by Jamaica

News

At a meeting in Dubai between Jamaica’s Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Director of Tourism, Donovan White and the Chairman of WFZO H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, the officials discussed about the soon-to-come conference hosted by the Caribbean, as well as about how to boost the cruise sector in Jamaica.

The country’s Tourism Ministry aims to build 8.000 more hotel rooms and attract tourists from the Middle East, Europe and North America, as well as become a major airline hub serving the Caribbean area. In this regard, Emirates Airlines has begun selling seats to Jamaica in new arrangement boosting opportunities from the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

The announcement was made by Hon. Edmund Bartlett during the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, after a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Bartlett commented:

“This is a major initiative for Jamaica as it is opening the Middle Eastern gateway from Asia and North Africa. It is the first time that Destination Jamaica has been entered into the ticketing system of a GCC airline and gives the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) significant leverage to negotiate direct flights to the destination.”

Passengers can now fly from Norman Manley or Sangster International Airports to destinations such as JFK, New York, Newark, Boston or Orlando, and even Malpensa, Italy. Tickets can be booked through Emirates Holidays.

Minister Bartlett’s tour promoting Jamaica’s tourism industry will continue with stops in New York, Africa, Canada, Europe and Latin America.

Moreover, AICE 2022 will be hosted by Jamaica, while the event is expected to boost the island’s cruise sector and raise awareness on its travel sector. World FZO AICE will be held in Montego Bay, St. James, from 13-17 June at the famous 139,302 square feet Montego Bay Convention Centre near the ocean and close to Sangster International Airport.

World Travel Awards has acknowledged Jamaica with ‘World’s Leading Family Destination’, ‘World’s Leading Wedding Destination’, ‘Caribbean’s Leading Destination’ and ‘Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Board’ titles, while the country’s tourism sector was recognised as Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Destination 2021 and World’s Leading Cruise Destination 2021.
