Wizz Air UK Approved for UK–US Charter Flights
Wizz Air UK has received regulatory approval to operate flights between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking a significant milestone for the airline after months of preparation and coordination with aviation authorities.
Despite securing the authorization, the airline said it does not plan to launch regular scheduled commercial services across the Atlantic. Instead, the approval will allow Wizz Air UK to offer charter flights tailored to specific groups and events.
One of the main opportunities expected this year involves travel related to the upcoming football World Cup in the United States. The airline plans to provide charter services for European football teams and supporters traveling to the tournament.
Wizz Air UK says it anticipates strong demand from teams, fans and tour operators organizing group trips to the event. Charter packages are expected to focus on flexible schedules and efficient travel arrangements for large groups.
Beyond football travel, the airline intends to offer charter services to corporate clients, sports organizations, tour operators and private groups seeking transatlantic connections between Europe and the United States.
The company described the regulatory approval as an important step in expanding its operational capabilities and opening new opportunities for tailored long-haul travel services. Charter enquiries for summer travel are already open.
