Johannesburg, South Africa, 2 April 2012 -- Wings Travel Management, which turns 20 this month, is celebrating its anniversary with big news. The global travel-management company specialising in oil & gas, corporate and marine travel, is expanding its reach into South America with the acquisition of Brazilian-based V7 Viagens travel-management company.
The announcement was made March 24 at the company’s 20th anniversary celebration in Johannesburg by Wings CEO Tony Sofianos.
“This is an important region for our customers, and was the logical next step in the growth of Wings,” Sofianos said. “On the occasion of our 20th year, it is a testament to the continued growth of our global brand.”
In anticipation of future business growth, Wings established its corporate headquarters in the United Kingdom nearly 2 years ago. The administrative headquarters remains in Johannesburg. Because of the strategic nature of Wings’ growth and business development, more than half of Wings’ business now is outside the African continent, creating a truly international brand.
“Over the past 20 years, we have had the good fortune of working with exceptionally talented teams and continue to enjoy long and fruitful relationships with our valued clients,” Sofianos said. “We thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the business and look forward to many more milestones together.”
Wings Travel Management originated in South Africa, cutting its teeth in a challenging travel market. Since its inception, it has become one of the top travel-management companies specialising in the oil and gas market, with offices in the United States, United Kingdom, the Middle East, South America and Africa. Wings also is expanding into the Asia-Pacific region with an operating presence in Singapore.
“Over the years, Wings has worked to unlock complex travel, which is how we’ve earned our place as a trusted advisor with our clients,” Sofianos said. “Because of our single-technology platform that is universal across our global system, we can provide confidence and peace of mind for the business traveller anytime, for any need, no matter where they are in the world.”
