United reaches tentative agreement with flight attendants union

Airlines & Airports

United Airlines has reached a tentative agreement with the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA covering approximately 30,000 flight attendants, marking a significant step toward a new industry-leading contract.

The proposed agreement includes immediate pay increases upon ratification, with top hourly wages expected to reach $100 by the end of the contract term. It also introduces additional compensation elements, including boarding pay and pay for extended gaps between flights.

A signing bonus package worth a total of $740 million will be distributed among flight attendants as part of the deal.

Beyond financial improvements, the agreement also addresses scheduling enhancements, aiming to provide greater flexibility and better working conditions for crew members.

The tentative deal must first be approved by the union’s Master Executive Council. If endorsed, it will then be submitted to United’s flight attendants for a ratification vote.

If approved, the new contract will remain in place for five years before becoming amendable.

The agreement reflects ongoing efforts across the aviation industry to improve compensation and conditions for airline staff amid strong travel demand and operational pressures.
