The Orient Express adventure goes on

News

AccorHotels and SNCF Group have partnered for continuing the iconic service, inaugurated 134 years ago with the legendary trip between Paris and Constantinople.

AccorHotels is officially the owner of 50 per cent of the Orient Express, the legendary train connecting Europe’s main cities, famous for its refinement, a symbol of the luxury travel segment.

Starting 1977, the Pullman-Orient-Express carriages have been restored by the SNCF Group, as they dated back from 1920. Starting now, AccorHotels will actively participate into developing new strategies for the luxury segment, by opening new hotels under the Orient Express brand, connecting iconic locations that can be visited by train.

With more than 14.000 hotels and private residences worldwide, AccorHotels Group is considered to be one of the biggest travel sector player, as well as a digital technology and lifestyle promoter.

“We are delighted with this strategic partnership, which today cements the alliance of two major French players in the world of travel for a shared purpose, that of giving fresh impetus and international standing to an historic and world-renowned brand. Thanks to this partnership, our customers will be able to enjoy a prestigious range of services and exceptional experiences based on a portfolio of luxury brands,” Sébastien Bazin, the CEO of AccorHotels, commented with the occasion.

“SNCF Group is proud to have contributed to the renaissance of this historic brand and we intend to continue our involvement and provide our expertise, acquired over the past 80 years in the field of rail engineering, to help develop this project. Through our heritage policy, we will be actively involved in promoting this legendary train to the widest audience,” added Mathias Vicherat, deputy CEO at SNCF Group.

With the latest partnership, both companies aim to preserve and promote the heritage of the historic Orient Express, in order to boost the public interest for art and culture, while enforcing the Orient Express Endowment Fund that raises awareness of the initiative.
