Air India resumes global flights from August 1

Airlines & Airports

Air India has announced a partial resumption of its international flight schedule beginning 1 August 2025, following a “Safety Pause” implemented after the tragic AI171 accident on 12 June. The suspension allowed the airline to conduct additional safety checks on its Boeing 787 fleet and adapt to extended flight times caused by regional airspace restrictions.

From August, the airline will restart some key routes, including a new 3x weekly service between Ahmedabad and London Heathrow, replacing the previous Gatwick connection. Routes such as Delhi–London Heathrow and Delhi–Zurich will also see increased frequencies, while full schedule restoration is expected by 1 October.

Flights to destinations like Tokyo, Seoul, and Amsterdam will return to normal gradually, but some routes, including those to Birmingham, Paris, and several North American cities, will continue to operate at reduced capacity through September.

Air India is proactively contacting affected passengers to offer rebooking or refunds. The carrier emphasizes that safety remains the top priority and thanks customers for their understanding.

As of August, Air India will operate over 525 international flights per week across 63 destinations worldwide.
