Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced agreeing a deal with Residency Resorts Malé to bring the famous St. Regis brand to the Maldives.
Set to open next year in the Maldives, the St. Regis Vommuli Resort will introduce the brand's renowned luxury services to one of the most sought after destinations in the world.
Residency Resorts, which is a part of the Appaswamy Group, will debut the resort on the island of Vommuli, in the Dhaalu Atoll.
Ravi Appasamy, managing director of Residency Resorts Malé, said: "We are delighted to team up with Starwood to bring this project to life: combining the tailored, world-class services of the St. Regis brand with the 'barefoot luxury' mentality of the Maldives.
"The brand's fame, coupled with Starwood's enticing loyalty programme, is sure to attract affluent visitor numbers to this enchanting destination."
The resort is being brought to life on a private atoll spanning over 20 acres, surrounded by pristine beaches and a secluded lagoon with turquoise waters. The St. Regis Vommuli will be accessed from the Republic's capital city of Malé via a 40-minute seaplane ride.
The resort will include 77 luxury private villas, all with an individual contemporary design scheme inspired by the island's colour palette and natural materials.
Sudeep Jain, vice president acquisitions and development, south Asia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, added: "This deal further adds to Starwood's solid growth momentum in South Asia, where we are registering increasing demand for high-end hotel accommodations."
"The future unveiling of the St. Regis brand in the Maldives shows our commitment to expand Starwood's luxury portfolio and to bring it to this dynamic market."
