Sochi Airport prepares to welcome Russian Grand Prix guests

Sochi International Airport plans to serve estimated 100,000 passengers that will visit Russia for the upcoming Formula One Russian Grand Prix event
With the occasion of the F1 race, visitors will arrive to Sochi via direct flights from all over the world, as 235 event organizer staff already landed on Monday.
Over 100,000 arriving and departing passengers from 30 countries and over 650 flights from Great Britain, Italy, UAE, Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Slovakia, Thailand, Bahrain and Turkey are expected to be welcomed to the Sochi International Airport this week.
For the event, Sochi Airport will greet Formula One famous drivers: Williams’s Felipe Massa, Sebastian Vettel and Niki Lauda.
Basel Aero's chief executive Leonid Sergeyev declared, while 169 passengers from the Ferrari team are expected to arrive today from Bologna:
“We’re again facing a challenging task to serve guests and participants of Formula One Russian Grand Prix at the highest level.
“It’s the second year of the F1 race in Sochi when the airport tests its operational team and services.
“Thanks to the airport’s Olympic experience, we’ve got all the operations running smoothly here.
“For the upcoming peak periods, we’ll engage staff from other Basel Aero’s airports in Krasnodar, Anapa and Gelendzhik.”
The 5.848-kilometer, 55.000-capacity circuit is integrated into the Olympic Park infrastructure, with facilities which connect the Olympic venues with Sochi International Airport.
