The First Translucent Train Will Be Built in Japan

A recognized Japanese architect is working on a new project which aims to achieve a commuter train with a special and unique design. The trains will be semi-transparent and will have mirror-like exterior surfaces. This design is specifically chosen for the trains to better integrate into the natural landscape of the transited areas.
Seibu Group has hired the famous architect Kazuyo Sejima, well-known as being the creator of some amazing design works, in order to create a new type of train to mark the 100th anniversary of the company, according to news.discovery.com, citing dezeen.com.
Japanese architect will handle both the exterior and interior of the train. The interior of the trains will be looking like a modern living room, according to the Seibu Group Company. The new design will be able on limited number of trains starting 2018.
The architect Kazuyo Sejima declared for the press relase that this is a truly important project for her as there is a huge difference between designing a building, which is rooted in a single spot, and designing an object that needs to travel through many different environments.
in the past, Japan has managed to establish a world speed record with a maglev train with propulsion based on magnetic levitation, reaching the speed of 603 km / h in a race test, just a few days after it surpassed a 12 year old record. The new speed record was set less than a week after the maglev train reached a speed of 590 kilometers per hour, surpassing the previous record of 581 mph set in 2003.
