Caribbean long-stays have shown an increase trend
The Caribbean has always been an extremely popular resort for exclusive vacation enthusiasts. During the first semester of 2014, there is a sight increase in sale numbers, the number is, however, in tune with the global average.
In terms of numbers, the increase can be measured by a 4.3% boost for the first six months of 2014.
The director of research and information technology at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), Winfield Griffith has announced a staggering 14 million long-stay visitors have been drawn towards the Caribbean from January until July.
Most of the tourists came from the U.S. with almost 4% increase in visitor numbers just from this tourist profile alone.
“There is enough evidence to suggest that there is growing economic confidence in the region’s biggest neighbor and this is releasing much pent-up travel demand caused by a long recessionary period”. Winfield Griffith.
The CTO report consisting of results from just 21 countries also shows a 6% increase from the European market and a 4.3% from the Canadian one.
The Caribbean cruise sector has also shown an increase in trend with a 8% boost in tourist arrivals, translating in 13.1 mil. tourists visiting the region in the first semester of 2014.
