MSC Cruises announces a grand naming ceremony for MSC World America at its new PortMiami terminal on April 9, 2025, followed by a celebratory sailing featuring a stop at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
MSC Cruises has revealed plans for an illustrious naming ceremony for its newest flagship, MSC World America, scheduled for April 9, 2025, at the brand-new PortMiami terminal. This event marks a significant commitment by MSC Cruises to the North American market and Miami's stature as the cruise capital of the world.
Guests fortunate enough to attend this milestone event will embark on a celebratory sailing, making an extended call at MSC Cruises' private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. The itinerary includes an overnight stay, allowing guests to revel in the island's exclusive evening lighthouse show and beach party, followed by more island time and a leisurely afternoon at sea to explore the ship's myriad of amenities and activities.
Rubén A. Rodríguez, President of MSC Cruises USA, expressed his enthusiasm about the ship's introduction to Miami, highlighting the strategic partnership with Miami-Dade County and PortMiami. MSC World America, being the first of MSC's ships in the U.S. market powered by LNG, showcases the cruise line's commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship.
The ship, a marvel of modern engineering and design, is tailored for the North American traveler, blending European sophistication with American comforts across its 22 decks and 2,614 cabins. As the second vessel in the World Class series, MSC World America is set to redefine the Miami skyline and offer an unprecedented cruising experience.
The introduction of MSC World America coincides with MSC Cruises' ongoing investment in South Florida, including a $100 million U.S. headquarters in downtown Miami and the state-of-the-art PortMiami terminal, designed to elevate the cruising experience for up to 36,000 passengers daily.
Following the naming ceremony, MSC World America will commence her inaugural season on April 12, 2025, offering 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Destinations include Puerto Plata, San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Isla de Roatan, and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, presenting guests with a rich tapestry of cultures, landscapes, and maritime adventures.
Embodying MSC Cruises' dedication to environmental sustainability, MSC World America operates on LNG and incorporates advanced technologies to minimize her ecological footprint. Features like shore power connectivity, efficient energy and water use, and a comprehensive recycling program underscore the ship's green initiatives, ensuring guests enjoy a responsible and memorable voyage.
