Lufthansa Upgrades Business Class on Airbus A380 Fleet

Lufthansa has launched a major cabin modernization programme for the business class cabins aboard its Airbus A380 aircraft, aiming to deliver enhanced comfort, privacy and flexibility for premium travellers.

 

The retrofit project focuses on redesigning the business class experience on the airline’s largest long-haul aircraft type. The new cabin concept introduces updated seating configurations that provide improved privacy and comfort for passengers, reflecting evolving preferences in the premium travel segment.

According to Lufthansa, the refreshed business cabins will feature spacious seats designed for both work and rest, alongside enhanced storage options and modern materials that elevate the overall onboard environment. The retrofit also emphasises a refined aesthetic that complements the airline’s broader fleet upgrade strategy.

Lufthansa plans to begin the retrofit roll-out in 2026, with upgrades taking place during scheduled maintenance to minimise disruption to flight operations. The modernised configuration will progressively enter service across the A380 fleet over the coming years.

The programme forms part of Lufthansa’s wider long-term commitment to improving customer experience across its aircraft types, following recent investments in premium cabins, in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions on other long-haul equipment.

Airbus A380 aircraft with the updated business class cabins are expected to operate on key intercontinental routes once retrofits are complete, offering customers a more contemporary and comfortable premium travel experience.

Lufthansa says the initiative supports its goal of maintaining high standards in passenger experience and competitiveness in long-haul premium markets, particularly as demand for enhanced business travel comfort continues to grow.
