Lufthansa Opens Booking for New Business Seats on 787-9
Lufthansa has announced that its advanced Allegris business class seats, introduced last year, are now open for booking on selected Boeing 787-9 aircraft departing from March 29, 2026. The move marks a key step in rolling out the new premium cabin experience across the airline’s long-haul network.
The Allegris seat concept, designed to combine comfort, privacy and flexibility, was first unveiled on Lufthansa’s Airbus A350 fleet. It features thoughtfully curated elements such as fully flat beds, enhanced storage, intuitive controls and subtle zoned lighting to elevate the business-class experience.
From the end of March, passengers flying in business class on the Boeing 787-9 will be able to select these new seats when making reservations, with availability expanding gradually to additional long-haul routes. The deployment is part of Lufthansa’s broader cabin modernization strategy, aimed at enhancing customer comfort and aligning its product offering across multiple aircraft types.
Lufthansa says the Allegris configuration reflects passenger feedback and evolving expectations for premium travel, balancing private space with connectivity and service flexibility. The rollout to 787-9 aircraft follows successful customer reception on other wide-body jets in the carrier’s fleet.
Travellers can secure the new business-class seats through Lufthansa’s website and mobile app as part of standard flight reservations beginning now, with planned expansions to more destinations later this year. (newsroom.lufthansagroup.com)
