IHG’s HUALUXE partners with SHANG XIA on new Chinese-inspired hotel experiences

IHG’s HUALUXE partners with SHANG XIA on new Chinese-inspired hotel experiences

HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Chinese lifestyle brand SHANG XIA to introduce a new collection of hotel amenities and cultural experiences inspired by traditional Chinese craftsmanship and contemporary design.

The collaboration will initially include co-branded bath amenities across HUALUXE properties in Greater China, alongside a series of seasonal guest experiences in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing.

Part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, HUALUXE was created specifically around Chinese hospitality and cultural traditions. The latest partnership is designed to further integrate those influences into the everyday guest experience.

“Since its establishment, HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts has been committed to exploring new ways to bring cultural heritage into contemporary hospitality offerings,” said Rita Jiang, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer at IHG Greater China.

“We believe the true value of Chinese aesthetics lies in its ability to connect cultural heritage with modern lifestyles.”

Tea-inspired bath amenities to roll out from September

One of the first visible results of the partnership will be a new co-branded bath amenities collection.

Inspired by SHANG XIA’s signature fragrance, the products will incorporate a tea-based scent intended to bring another element of Chinese culture into the hotel stay.

The collection combines the fragrance with contemporary packaging and product design developed by the two brands.

HUALUXE plans to begin introducing the amenities across its hotels in Greater China from September 2026, with the rollout taking place progressively across the portfolio.

SHANG XIA was founded around the idea of adapting traditional Chinese craftsmanship for contemporary lifestyles and has spent the past 16 years working across design, fashion and lifestyle products.

“Our collaboration with HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts reflects a shared vision to integrate traditional artistry into new guest stay,” said Weili Liu, CEO of SHANG XIA.

“Looking ahead, SHANG XIA will continue to use design as a bridge between craftsmanship and contemporary lifestyles.”

Cultural experiences planned for Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing

The partnership will extend beyond in-room products through HUALUXE Gathering, the hotel brand’s existing programme of cultural and social experiences.

Beginning in August, HUALUXE and SHANG XIA will introduce seasonal activities at selected properties in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing.

The programme will include experiences centred on bamboo weaving and traditional craftsmanship, alongside tea appreciation, Chinese-inspired food and beverage offerings and seasonal product experiences.

HUALUXE Gathering is designed to introduce hotel guests to elements of Chinese culture through collaborations, culinary experiences and social events rather than relying solely on the physical design of its properties.

The SHANG XIA partnership will add another design and craftsmanship component to that programme.

HUALUXE continues expansion in Greater China

IHG launched HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts in 2012 as a hotel brand developed around the needs of Chinese travellers and traditions of Chinese hospitality.

The brand currently operates 27 hotels across Greater China, with another 20 properties in its development pipeline.

While HUALUXE remains strongly focused on the Chinese market, its positioning combines traditional cultural references with contemporary hotel design and services.

The partnership with SHANG XIA forms part of that strategy, using amenities and curated experiences to introduce cultural elements throughout the guest stay rather than limiting them to architecture and interior design.
