How Did the Ancient Rome Really Look Like?
An incredible 3D reconstruction allows you to visit the grand city of the ancient world in all its glory - Rome
An incredible video of a virtual reality tour takes the viewer into possible only in ancient Rome, offering a unique opportunity to visit all the famous sites, including the Colosseum and the Pantheon just as it would have been looked like in 320 .
At the Rome Reborn reconstitution project participated an important part of teachers, researchers and academics, who chose the year 320 due to the fact that it is believed that the city was at its most developed level, shortly before Emperor Constantine moved the imperial capital to Constantinople (Istanbul ).
Rome Reborn is essentially “a 3D digital model of the Eternal City at a time when Ancient Rome’s population had reached its peak (about one million) and the first Christian churches were being built.” Rome Reborn offers, declared Matthias Rascher, “a truly stunning bird’s-eye view of ancient Rome that makes you feel as if you were actually there.”
After this date, few new civic buildings were built. Much of what survives of the ancient city dates to this period, making reconstruction less speculative than it must, perforce, be for earlier phases. But having started with A.D. 320, the Rome Reborn team intends to move both backwards and forwards in time until the entire span of time foreseen by our mission has been covered.
