Finnair supplements Russian flights
Airline News
As of this summer, Finnair has announced the launching of new routes towards Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara, three historically prominent Russian cities located on the bank of the River Volga.
The flight services will start as follows: Nizhny Novgorod – July 25th; Samara Kurumoch International Airport – August 7th and Kazan International Airport – August 18th
These routes will be active for three times per week flights.
“The Russian Federation is Finland’s largest trading partner outside the EU, and Finland is viewed by many in Russia as a favourable place to conduct business or take a holiday,”
“Our new routes and frequencies will help meet demand for outbound Russian travel not only to Finland, but to other destinations throughout Finnair’s European network thanks to our compact and efficient hub in Helsinki.
“We also hope these new routes prompt Finns and other Europeans to discover three historic cities on the Volga, each growing in commercial importance.” - Allister Paterson, Finnair chief commercial officer.
One of the key locations caught in this itinerary is Nizhny Novgorod, a growing IT hub and administrative centre for the Volga Federal District which has more that 1 million inhabitants.
Kazan on the other hand is recognized as the world’s Tatar Muslim culture being the cultural capital of Republic of Tatarstan.
Samara is famous for its aerospace industry and the Samara State Aerospace University.
It is notable that the routes have been chosen for their business as well as their tourism potential.
Choosing these key locations is part of Finnair’s strategy for expanding their portfolio.
