Carnival Jubilee Joins Growing Fleet in Ongoing Capacity Expansion

Carnival Cruise Line joyously welcomed Carnival Jubilee, the latest addition to its renowned Excel-class, in a delivery celebration with ship builder Meyer Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany.
Serving as the 26th Fun Ship in the Carnival fleet, Carnival Jubilee embarks on its journey to Galveston, Tex., where it will bring increased capacity and deliver an exciting blend of fresh entertainment, dining, and enjoyment to one of the cruise line's most beloved homeports.
Carnival President Christine Duffy, accompanied by Ben Clement, Carnival’s SVP of New Builds, Refurbishments & Product Innovation, and the ship’s senior officers, joined Meyer Werft Managing Director Jan Meyer to extend a warm welcome to Carnival Jubilee, marking the first Carnival ship constructed in Papenburg, Germany. Upon reaching Texas, Carnival Jubilee and its team will open their doors to guests for the first time on Dec. 23. The vessel is scheduled to embark on year-round week-long Western Caribbean voyages from Galveston.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, shared:
“Carnival Jubilee is the fifth additional ship we’ve welcomed into our fleet since 2021 and an integral part of our growth strategy. This ship will bring our most dynamic offering of fun to one of our most popular homeports and will be a great addition to our plans to remain the number one cruise line in Galveston. From the thrill of the roller coaster, BOLT, to a piece of paradise at the Serenity retreat, and so much more, we’re delivering a new level of fun for our guests sailing from Galveston that will complement our current and upcoming operations there.”
In addition to Carnival Jubilee, recent fleet expansions since 2021 include Mardi Gras (2021), Carnival Luminosa (2022), Carnival Celebration (2022), and Carnival Venezia (2023). Carnival Firenze is set to join the fleet in April 2024.
Carnival Jubilee heralds a substantial increase in capacity from Galveston, a cherished homeport for Carnival. Having pioneered year-round cruises from Galveston in 2001, the new ship, adorned with a Texas star on its bow, stands as a Texas-sized symbol of the cruise line’s devoted following among guests and travel advisors in the region. Carnival Jubilee will complete the four-ship deployment plan alongside Carnival Breeze and Carnival Dream at the port, culminating when Carnival Miracle relocates to Galveston in October 2024.
Over the past month, Carnival Jubilee's captain and senior officers conducted final trials to assess the ship's seaworthiness, completing numerous technical and nautical operations ahead of its transatlantic voyage and scheduled arrival in Galveston on Dec. 20. With a gross tonnage of 183,000, the ship can host approximately 6,400 guests at full capacity, plus 1,750 crew. As Carnival’s third vessel powered by a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) propulsion system, it marks the first cruise ship to operate on LNG from Galveston. Terminal 25 at the Port of Galveston, having undergone a recent $53 million investment, is ready to accommodate the ship, ensuring an enhanced guest experience.
