British Airways Unveils Its Most Festive British-Inspired Christmas Celebration to Date

Airlines & Airports

The most beautiful Christmas celebration yet is now organized by British Airways.

In commemorating the joyous holiday season this year, British Airways is deploying a comprehensive array of initiatives to create the most significant celebration for its patrons to date, featuring Christmas feasts, festive cleansers and aromas, extensive hours of classic Christmas entertainment, alongside an assortment of delectable treats.

From the instant travelers set foot in London Heathrow, Gatwick, and City airports, they will be greeted by festively adorned halls boasting seasonal check-in displays, Christmas embellishments, and melodious tunes of the season. Patrons passing through the airline's lounges will have the opportunity to indulge in tailor-made Christmas menus, biscuits, gingerbread, and mulled wine, all while immersing themselves in a distinctive festive fragrance infused with cinnamon and seasonal spices.

Teaming up with Hotel Chocolat, the airline is presenting a warm winter cocoa in its Concorde Room and a festive chocolate cream cocktail in its First lounge. Additionally, a British Original artist has been commissioned to craft a winter wonderland for customers traversing the walkway between the primary lounges in Heathrow Terminal 5. Executed using 'snow graffiti,' this masterpiece will showcase a British skyline enveloped in wintry decor, created live for customers to witness during the initial two days of December.

As British Airways patrons embark on flights throughout the festive season, they'll be greeted by Christmas melodies before settling into seats adorned with specially designed festive headrest covers, featuring the airline's exclusive Christmas ribbon motif. Each passenger will also receive farewell chocolates upon departure.

Elevating the merriments to an altitude of 35,000 feet, patrons on the airline's long-haul flights can relish traditional Christmas dinners* served on trays adorned with festive themes. The airline anticipates serving an astonishing 380,000 Christmas dinners, encompassing over 600,000 Brussels sprouts and 8,000 Yule logs. British Airways' patrons can also partake in over 1,500 hours of in-flight entertainment, including more than 20 classic Christmas films and 50 TV Christmas specials broadcasted on its dedicated 'Christmas countdown' channel. Travelers will further notice the presence of festive-scented soap in the airline's onboard lavatories.

As an exclusive gesture to the airline's most esteemed patrons traveling on December 24 and 25, British Airways will bestow each passenger with an exquisitely hand-painted, one-of-a-kind glass Christmas bauble.

Calum Laming, Chief Customer Officer at British Airways, expressed, “Christmas is among our preferred seasons — for both customers and colleagues alike — and we are all eagerly anticipating spreading some holiday cheer over the next few weeks, both within the airport premises and in the skies.

“We hope these special touches, both big and small, help make our customers’ journey, wherever it may be, as original and extra special as possible. To all our customers, however you are celebrating, we wish you a very Merry Christmas!”

Even those traveling in Euro Traveller on short-haul flights with British Airways will have access to a range of festive offerings available for purchase through the airline's High Life Café. Selections include Tom Kerridge’s turkey feast sandwich, Pullin’s Gingerbread Muffin, and LoveRaw’s vegan Milk Choc Cream bar. A variety of Christmas beverages, including Black Cow’s Christmas Spirit vodka and Brewdog’s Elf lager, are also on offer.

To complement these festivities, British Airways has initiated its 'Big Little Welcome' campaign, affording patrons the chance to greet their loved ones with a welcome message that may be displayed on billboards and airport screens upon their arrival at Heathrow, Gatwick, and City airports during the Christmas period.
