Wizz Air Reopens Suceava Base With Seven New Routes
Wizz Air has officially reopened its operational base at Suceava “Ștefan cel Mare” International Airport, marking another milestone in the airline’s expansion in Romania. The relaunch is supported by the allocation of two state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo family aircraft, bringing Wizz Air’s Romanian fleet to 41 aircraft, with two more already planned for 2026.
As part of the reopening, Wizz Air has added more than 130,000 seats for the winter season and launched seven new direct routes, strengthening connectivity from the Bucovina region. Passengers can now fly from Suceava to Bologna, Milan Bergamo, Venice, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Birmingham, Larnaca and Brussels Charleroi, with increased frequency to Dortmund from January 2026.
To celebrate the first flight from the renewed base, Wizz Air surprised five passengers from Suceava with golden vouchers, hidden in seat pockets on one of the inaugural departures, as a thank-you gesture to local travellers.
Wizz Air has operated in Romania since 2006 and continues to see the country as a key growth market. From Suceava alone, the airline now serves 13 routes to six countries, offering affordable travel options for both leisure and visiting friends and relatives.
Speaking in Suceava, Mauro Peneda, Managing Director of Wizz Air Malta, said the base reopening reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to Romania and supports its “Customer First Compass” strategy by delivering low fares and expanded destination choices.
Local authorities also highlighted ongoing airport investments, including the installation of ILS CAT III, plans for a new Terminal 3, apron upgrades and improved access roads, further strengthening Suceava Airport’s role as a regional aviation hub.
With its modern, fuel-efficient fleet and digital-first approach, Wizz Air continues to position itself as a leading low-cost carrier, connecting Romanian regions with major European destinations.
