The earhquake striking Central America left three people dead.

The tsunami wave was expected for several Central American countries, such as Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Costa Rica, after the quake hit Chiapas, a town in southern Mexico. The warning has been issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.

Travel advice updates have also been released by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), cautioning British tourists about both the tsunami and the Hurricane Katie approaching the area.

“We are in touch with local authorities and stand ready to support any British people affected. The hurricane season normally runs from June to November and affects both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Hurricane Katia is forecast to bring hazardous sea and weather conditions to eastern parts of Mexico from around 08 September 2017. You should monitor the progress of approaching storms on the website of the US National Hurricane Centre and follow the advice of the local authorities, including any evacuation orders,” the FCO statement quotes.

The earthquake on September 7th was the strongest after the one is 1985 resulting in thousands of victims. The epicentre was 76 miles southwest Pijijiapan, Chiapas, as the depth was calculated to be 43 miles. 2.3 ft waves have already hit Mexico.

More updates will be available soon.
