American Airlines to Open Larger Admirals Club in Austin
American Airlines has announced plans to open a new and significantly larger Admirals Club lounge at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport as part of its continued investment in premium travel experiences.
The new lounge will cover more than 12,000 square feet on the west side of the terminal, roughly doubling the size of the airline’s current lounge at the airport. One of its standout features will be an outdoor terrace overlooking downtown Austin and the airport airfield, marking the first open-air lounge space introduced across the airline’s Admirals Club network.
Construction on the new facility is expected to begin this year, while the current lounge will remain open during the building process to continue serving travelers.
According to American Airlines, the new lounge will include multiple zones designed to accommodate different traveler needs. Guests will find dedicated areas for relaxing, dining, working and charging devices, all within a space designed to combine comfort with modern design elements inspired by the local Austin culture.
The outdoor terrace is expected to be a key attraction, offering passengers a chance to relax in an open-air setting while watching aircraft movements and views of the city skyline.
The new lounge forms part of a broader effort by American Airlines to enhance the Admirals Club experience with updated design, improved amenities and partnerships with premium brands. Travelers passing through Austin will also have access to recently introduced offerings such as Lavazza coffee and Champagne Bollinger, which is available for purchase across Admirals Club locations.
American Airlines currently operates nearly 50 daily flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to 11 destinations, connecting passengers in Central Texas to more than 350 destinations worldwide through its global network.
Access to Admirals Club lounges is available through several options, including Admirals Club membership, qualifying oneworld status, or eligible credit cards such as the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard. Travelers can also purchase a one-day lounge pass valid for 24 hours for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.
