Air France Upgrades Premium Cabin Dining on Long-Haul Flights

Airlines & Airports

Air France is continuing its push to elevate the Premium cabin experience, unveiling a revamped dining offering that moves the mid-market cabin closer to business class territory — particularly on long-haul routes.

The most visible change is a completely redesigned second meal service on flights lasting more than seven hours. The previous offering, which was largely identical to Economy class, has been replaced with a dedicated tray service tailored to the flight schedule. Overnight flights now receive a continental breakfast on approach — pastry, fromage frais, and granola, with warm bread on flights over ten hours. Daytime flights get a selection of club sandwiches including a vegetarian option, with a mixed salad and warm bread added on routes exceeding ten hours.

The main meal throughout the flight remains a full French-style service: savoury biscuits, starter, a choice of two hot main dishes, cheese, and dessert, served on eco-designed tableware with stainless steel cutlery. The hot dishes are created by Frédéric Simonin — a Michelin-starred chef and Meilleur Ouvrier de France — developed in collaboration with airline caterer Servair. The recipes prioritise fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced produce, with meat, poultry, dairy, and eggs sourced entirely from France, and fish from sustainable or French fisheries.

Desserts lean indulgent — vanilla choux bun, Paris-Brest, and chocolate fondant — with homemade ice lollies from the South of France added on daytime flights over ten hours. The drinks selection includes French wines, beers, and a champagne selection curated by Xavier Thuizat, France's Best Sommelier in 2022. This summer, a new exclusive cocktail lands on the menu — created by mixologist Matthias Giroud, combining Chardonnay, Burgundy blackcurrant, and French elderflower liqueur.

On the hardware side, the Premium cabin's latest recliner seat — now on over 80% of Air France's long-haul fleet — reclines to 124 degrees, features a wider seatback, adjustable footrest, and redesigned cushioning. Each seat comes with a 13.3-inch 4K Ultra HD touchscreen with Bluetooth, access to over 1,500 hours of entertainment, and USB charging. Air France is also rolling out high-speed Wi-Fi across the fleet, expecting near-full coverage by year end.
