Aer Lingus launches Avios-Only flights to Malta for summer 2026

Airlines & Airports

Aer Lingus has announced Malta as the latest destination for its Avios-Only flights, offering exclusive travel opportunities for AerClub members during the peak summer season.

The special flights will depart from Dublin on 1 August 2026 and return on 8 August, with all seats available only through Avios redemptions. The initiative is designed to provide loyal customers with more flexible and cost-effective travel options during the busy holiday period.

Return fares start from 20,000 Avios per person, plus taxes and fees, and include a 20kg checked bag and a 10kg cabin bag. Customers can also choose Avios + Cash options if they do not have enough points for a full redemption.

Avios-Only flights have proven highly popular, with a previous Tenerife service selling out within hours, and strong demand is expected again for the Malta route.

The airline said the destination was selected due to its growing popularity among Irish travellers, offering a mix of cultural attractions, beaches and Mediterranean climate.

The launch is part of Aer Lingus’ broader strategy to enhance the value of its AerClub loyalty programme, which now has nearly four million members worldwide.

Customers can continue to use Avios across the airline’s wider network, including Aer Lingus Regional routes, for flights, hotels and travel-related services.
