London underground to run during the night
London Underground will run on weekends’ nights a year after the law was proposed, writes Bloomberg. The delay came after several strikes organized by trade unions against the former mayor Boris Johnson’s project.
Six trains per hour will run on London Underground lines between 00: 30 and 5:30 on Saturday and Sunday, according to an announcement made by the Mayor Sadiq Khan. This will ensure that people traveling at night will get home faster and also will offer greater freedom of movement for workers and passengers.
The city's mayor, Sadiq Khan, said it was "wonderful" thousands of Londoners were able to benefit from the service, claiming the Night Tube would provide a "huge boost" to the capital. Trains are running every 10 minutes on the full Victoria line and on the Central line between White City and Leytonstone and approximately every 20 minutes between Ealing Broadway and White City and between Leytonstone and Loughton/Hainault.
About 100 police officers will be on patrol to allay any safety fears and eight new bus routes will now run 24-hour services to go hand-in-hand with the Tube night services.
