
Vegan food – find delicious dishes across Europe's cities

As veganism is a popular trend embraced by people aiming to lead a better lifestyle, here are the best cities in Europe to enjoy a healthy, cruelty-free meal.
These days, veganism has become the diet choice of many regular people and VIPs, for reasons linked to the countless benefits it brings to the overall health, as well as consideration for the animal world.
According to the UK based Vegan Society reports, over half a million Britons are currently eating a plant-based diet. And the numbers grow each year.
With the occasion of World Vegan Day, animal rights activists PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and HappyCow app have provided a list of the most vegan-friendly recommended destinations for meat and dairy-free travellers to use during their trips in Europe.
Here are the top vegan-friendly European cities:
1. Berlin, Germany – with an impressive 471 restaurants serving vegan food, Berlin is also the city proudly hosting the Vegan Avenue, while Germany hold the record for the launch of most vegan food products in the world.
2. Amsterdam, Netherlands – famous for its veggie burgers and artisan vegan cheese.
3. London, UK – home of VegFest, the biggest vegan event in Europe, as well as the weekly vegan food market, Broadway Vegan Market.
4. Hamburg, Germany - the city in which the most successful vegan restaurant, Happenpappen, teaches vegan culinary classes.
5. Milan, Italy – famous for the fashion, Milan also hosts the MiVeg vegan festival attracting thousands of participants on every edition.
6. Edinburgh, Scotland - PETA’s Most Vegan-Friendly City of 2016.
7. Gothenburg, Sweden – home of an amazing cruelty-free hair and beauty salon, as well as a swish vegan fashion boutique chain.
8. Ghent, Belgium - the first city in Europe to introduce a meat-free day.
