Three Additional Sections of the Maya Train Project Slated for Completion in February
Three new segments of the Maya Train project, aimed at connecting visitors with various destinations across Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, are expected to be completed by the end of February
According to Óscar David Lozano Águila, the project's general director.
Lozano Águila emphasized the significant progress, stating, "By February 2024, we anticipate the completion of these three segments, enabling access to numerous archaeological sites and tourist attractions via the Maya Train."
These segments will extend through 11 municipalities in Quintana Roo and Campeche, including routes connecting Cancun Airport to Tulum, Tulum to Chetumal Airport, and Chetumal Airport to Escárcega in Campeche, as detailed by Maya Train representatives.
The completion of these routes will facilitate travel through 12 historical sites, encompassing El Meco, Tulum, Cobá, Muyil, Xel-Há, Paamul II, Dzibanché-Kinichná, Chacchoben, Oxtankah, Ichkabal, Kohunlich, and Calakmul.
The inaugural section of the Maya Train, connecting Campeche to Cancun, was launched in December 2023, marking a milestone in the project's development.
