The new twinjets will accommodate 340 passengers and include a new state-of-the-art cabin in all three classes, plus Wi-Fi.

The 777s will be deployed on routes to and from South America, the US West Coast and Asia beginning next summer.

Part of Swiss International Air Lines' 'Next-Generation Airline of Switzerland' strategy, the carrier will start the renewal of its fleet next year, with nine new Boeing 777-300ERs expected to be gradually assimilated into the fleet.

In the process, Swiss will create a total of 360 new cabin crew jobs in the next few years.

The new Boeing 777-300ER will offer eight seats in First Class, 62 in Business Class and a further 270 in Economy – a total of 340 passengers.

The cabin interior will be fully redesigned to offer maximum levels of comfort and pleasing aesthetics, meeting the most exigent demands in all seating classes.

Each First Class seat can be transformed into the passenger's own private suite that includes an industry leading 32-inch screen as well as electric window blinds and a private own wardrobe.

All the seats in Business Class will have the option of being converted into a lie-flat bed that is more than two metres in length.

Besides the regular cabin service, all travellers in Economy will benefit from a self-service kiosk offering a wide range of drinks and snacks.

All nine Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will also include wireless Internet via a broadband connection, allowing passengers to surf the Internet on their laptop, tablet or smartphone device.
