Starting today, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) enhances its inflight dining experience with the launch of its latest 'SWISS Taste of Switzerland' cycle, featuring the distinguished Grisons cuisine aboard its outbound long-haul flights. This culinary initiative showcases the talents of Chef Sandro Steingruber from the acclaimed VISTA gourmet restaurant located in the picturesque village of Sagogn, Grisons. The special menu will be available to First and Business Class passengers, with Premium Economy Class travelers also enjoying a three-course meal inspired by the host canton's culinary traditions.
Over the next three months, SWISS passengers will indulge in gastronomic creations by Chef Steingruber, whose VISTA restaurant is celebrated for its 15 Gault&Millau points and its status as a premium golfing dining spot. Drawing on his extensive experience, including his tenure as executive chef at Waldhaus Flims Hotel, Steingruber brings his innovative take on traditional Grisons dishes to the skies.
Julia Hillenbrand, SWISS’s Head of Brand Experience, praises Steingruber’s original culinary flair and attention to detail, expressing excitement for passengers to experience the essence of Grisons cuisine during their flight. Chef Steingruber himself is honored to share his culinary roots with an international audience, infusing each dish with the unique flavors and aromas of the Grisons mountains.
The updated 'SWISS Taste of Switzerland' menu includes reimagined classics such as Bündnerfleisch tatar, veal goulash, and a special take on the Nusstorte, alongside selected wines and cheeses from Canton Grisons. Premium Economy travelers will enjoy regional specialties like Ftan mountain cheese and Grisons nut pie, exemplifying SWISS's commitment to representing Switzerland's diverse culinary landscape.
This culinary journey is made possible through SWISS's 21-year collaboration with Gate Gourmet, part of gategroup, which ensures the highest quality of meals onboard. Every quarter, a new chef is invited to feature dishes from their canton, continuing SWISS’s tradition of offering passengers an immersive dining experience that celebrates Switzerland's rich culinary heritage.
