
Summer festivals in the Caribbean are back

Following a two year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Caribbean will once again be the host of the music, dance and foods of the summer festival season
Visitors can attend the amazing events scheduled for this summer and enjoy a holiday of music, costumes and great time. The biggest festivals in the islands this year will be held as follows:
Reggae Sumfest opens in Montego Bay from July 18 to 23. The Jamaican festival will happen at the same time with the country's 60th independence anniversary.
"Reggae Sumfest is known to be the greatest reggae show in the world. Jamaica is its birthplace, so we are excited to be partners in this to make sure that more and more people come to us", tourism minister Edmund Bartlett commented, while highlighting that the event will open the doors for tourists from the Emirates, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
Taste of St. Croix food fest is scheduled for June 23 at the Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino and features 50 local chefs and baristas presenting an exclusive blend of selected dishes and drinks.
Crop Over Festival will be hosted by Barbados during July and August, in the capital of Bridgetown. Guests are invited to attend unforgettable parties, parades, concerts, street markets and food trucks. Most of the events take place in the capital of Bridgetown. Crop Over’s most expected event is the Grand Kadooment Day on the 1st of August.
"We are happy for this because we know that after two years of no Crop Over and no release, people are more than waiting for this opportunity", Prime minister Mia Amor Mottley declared.
The annual Calabash Festival in Montserrat, taking place during July 17 and 23, will feature an exclusive gospel concert, tours of the island, Irish lecture sessions, a food market, hikes and races.
Turks and Caicos will be the host of the weekly Thursday Fish Fry and the Race for the Conch mile and half-mile swimming contests on June 25. Moreover, visitors of the islands are expected to visit the TI Summajam June 23 to 25 on Grand Turk, for a three day music and cultural immersive event.
“[TI Summajam will] bring back the good ol' Grand Turk days with a dazzling, dynamic display of culture, music, entertainment, island food/drink, sporting competitions, a beauty pageant, talent show and fun for all ages from 2 to 92", said Rita Gardiner, director of the Summajam Committee.
Anguilla's Summer Festival will open its gates on July 29 and will stay in place until Aug. 7. The hottest event in the festival will be the Eyes Wide Shut concert at Sandy Ground. Moreover, during the 10 days celebrations, visitors can attend the extravagant parades, street fairs, as well as the road and the boat races.
St. Kitts Music Festival between June 23 to 25 at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium in Basseterre has a hot line-up featuring Sean Paul, Beres Hammond, Wale and Keyshia Cole. Local musicians and theme parties will spice up things during the days during the festival.
On the island of Nevis, The Mango and Food Festival on July 1 to 3 will celebrate local cuisine and will welcome special guests - celebrity and Nevisian chefs mastering mango cooking shows. At the same time, the island will host another event, The Nevis Culturama Festival, from July 21 to August 2, celebrating dance, drama, poetry, music, pageants and arts and crafts.
