Stockholm Arlanda Airport recorded the highest on-time performance among Europe’s 40 busiest airports during summer 2026, according to an analysis by Eurocontrol.
The Swedish capital’s main airport achieved an on-time performance rate of 82.1% between June 1 and August 31, placing it first among the major European airports included in the analysis.
The result covers the peak summer travel period, when airports and airlines across Europe typically face some of their highest passenger volumes and operational pressure of the year.
Arlanda reaches 82.1% on-time performance
Eurocontrol’s analysis compared operations at Europe’s 40 busiest airports over the three-month summer period.
Stockholm Arlanda finished at the top with 82.1% of flights operating on time.
Swedavia, which operates Arlanda and several other airports in Sweden, attributed the performance partly to coordination between airlines, ground handling companies, air traffic control and other airport stakeholders.
“We are proud to offer our passengers an airport where flights depart on time. This contributes to a better travel experience from start to finish,” said Mats Johannesson, President and CEO of Swedavia.
Morning departures help limit delays
One area of focus at Stockholm Arlanda has been the punctuality of the first wave of flights each morning.
Delays early in the operating day can have knock-on effects as aircraft and crews continue through subsequent rotations.
Ensuring that the first departures leave according to schedule can therefore reduce the risk of delays accumulating later in the day.
Swedavia said cooperation between the different organisations operating at Arlanda has been an important part of maintaining punctuality during the busy summer schedule.
The airport’s 82.1% result covers all three peak summer months, rather than an individual day or short operating period.
With the measurement covering June through August and Europe’s 40 busiest airports, Arlanda’s performance placed the Swedish hub at the top of Eurocontrol’s summer punctuality comparison for 2026.
