Space Research Milestones Recognized By Emirates

Emirates and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) are teaming together for a unique flight to honour the UAE's innovative space programs.
We’re talking about the Emirates A380, adorned with a unique astronaut decal, hosted esteemed guests Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi and Hazzaa AlMansoori, key figures in the nation’s space endeavours.
This symbolic flight showcased the UAE's commitment to fostering a robust and diverse space sector, propelled by the MBRSC's initiatives in global space competition. Commanded by Captain Abdalla Abdelrahman Al Hammadi and First Officer Alex Van Der Veer, flight EK2641 embarked on a route across all seven Emirates, accompanied by astronauts, MBRSC's Director General Salem Humaid AlMarri, Emirates' Chief Operating Officer Adel Al Redha, Expedition 69 crew members, and nearly 200 MBRSC employees.
Prior to departure, Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi and Hazzaa AlMansoori visited Emirates Headquarters, engaging with Emirates' President Sir Tim Clark and COO Adel Al Redha. Emirates staff had the rare opportunity to participate in a Q&A session and meet the astronauts.
H.E. Salem Humaid AlMarri expressed gratitude for Emirates' gesture, emphasizing the shared vision to advance aerospace contributions. AlMarri reiterated MBRSC's dedication to propelling the UAE towards pioneering space exploration and innovation.
Emirates COO Adel Al Redha highlighted the airline's honour in celebrating Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi's mission and MBRSC's pivotal role in advancing the UAE's space sector. He emphasized the synergy between Emirates pilots and MBRSC astronauts in their pursuit of discovery.
MBRSC, established in 2006, is a technological hub spearheading the UAE's space leadership, including the UAE Astronaut Programme and high-resolution imaging satellite development. Notably, the Emirates Mars Mission, launched in 2021, continues to gather crucial data on Mars' atmosphere.
Emirates' contributions extend to aviation and aerospace convergence, notably through the Emirates Flight Training Academy, nurturing future aviators. With a significant number of Emirati cadets enrolled and graduated pilots flying for Emirates, the airline remains committed to fostering the nation's pool of skilled pilots.
