Singapore Airlines has initiated direct flights connecting Brussels with Singapore, marking the airline's return to the Belgian market after a 20-year hiatus. The service aims to enhance connectivity and boost economic ties.

Singapore Airlines Reconnects Brussels with Singapore After Two Decades

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has officially resumed operations in Belgium with the launch of direct flights between Brussels and Singapore. The inaugural flight, SQ303, marked the return of the airline to the Belgian market after more than 20 years, creating a significant link between the heart of Europe and the vibrant Asian metropolis.

Inaugural Celebrations

The first flight departed from Brussels Airport on April 6, at 12:10 PM, receiving a ceremonial water salute—a tradition for celebrating key moments in aviation. The service was inaugurated in the presence of notable attendees, including Belgium's Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, Mr. Lim Hong Huai, and Singapore Airlines Acting Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Mr. Dai Hao Yu.

Strategic Expansion and Connectivity

This new route extends SIA’s European network to 13 gateways, underlining its commitment to enhancing global connectivity. "Brussels is a key European center, and launching this route not only connects to a historical city but also offers our customers additional travel options to and from Europe," stated Mr. Dai Hao Yu.

Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company, expressed his enthusiasm about welcoming Singapore Airlines back to Brussels. “Singapore Airlines is known for its exemplary service and commitment to sustainability. This route will serve as a crucial link to Asia, supporting not only business relations but also catering to tourists and the local community in Singapore,” he commented.

Economic and Tourist Gateway

Singapore, a vital node for Belgian exports with about 9% heading to Asia, is anticipated to become an even more significant partner due to this direct connection. The flight is poised to support numerous Belgian companies operating in Singapore, while also attracting tourists to the diverse attractions of the city-state, from its green parks and gastronomic offerings to its luxurious shopping avenues and family-friendly sites.

Flight Details and Aircraft Specifications

Singapore Airlines will operate four weekly flights on this route using the long-haul variant of the Airbus A350-900. This aircraft is celebrated for its fuel efficiency and quiet operation, aligning with SIA’s sustainability goals. The aircraft accommodates 253 passengers across three classes: 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 187 in Economy Class, offering top-tier cabin products and renowned service.

As this direct service begins, both business and leisure travelers can now enjoy enhanced connectivity and a superior flying experience between Brussels and Singapore, further strengthening ties between Europe and Asia.
