Seychelles – an exotic destination presented at the World Travel Market

News

The representatives from Seychelles were led by Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Sylvestre Radegonde. While attending the prestigious event, the director general of the organisation, Bernadette Willemin, declared:

"The UK is part of the top 10 markets for Seychelles. We have recorded some 18,431 visitors from the region until 30th October of this year. Our participation in the WTM this November is aimed at reinforcing our presence on the market to ensure we keep up the momentum.”

According to recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics, 275,523 tourists visited the astonishing archipelago in the Indian Ocean this year, mostly from countries such as France, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom. However, despite the global economic situation, the numbers are expected to go up, as the nation is currently anticipating ways to cope with the demand.

“We are conscious of two elements: on the one hand, the purchasing power of our potential visitors is decreasing every day, impacted by inflation worldwide, and secondly, our competitors around the world remain fierce. We need to strike while the iron is hot, and our aim for the coming days would be to strengthen our trade relationship with our partners on the market, to build new partnerships and continuously find ways to remain relevant on the market," added Willemin.

The 43rd edition of the World Travel Market tourism show was held in London between November 7 and November 9. The event offered its travel professional guests the opportunity of attending business-to-business experiences and access intensive tourism networking across the international market.

Seychelles, one of the smallest countries in the world, is a picturesque archipelago located in the western Indian Ocean, featuring 115 tropical islands abounding in exotic vegetation, white sand beaches, and luxuriant marine life. The islands of Seychelles can be visited if travelling 1,000 miles east of Kenya and 700 miles north-east of Madagascar.
