The 2025 Alaska cruise season has officially commenced with Norwegian Bliss departing from the Port of Seattle, signifying the 25th anniversary of Seattle-to-Alaska cruises. This significant milestone is further enhanced by the port's commitment to environmental sustainability and the economic impact generated by the cruise industry in the region.

Norwegian Bliss, a Breakaway-Plus class ship designed specifically for the Alaska market, embarked on the first 7-night itinerary of the season to popular Alaskan destinations. The ship offers passengers stunning views of Alaska's scenery and wildlife through its expansive observation lounge and other viewing areas.

The season will feature 275 sailings from the Port of Seattle by various cruise lines, including Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line, and Royal Caribbean International, among others. Over 800,000 passengers are expected to embark from Seattle over the next few months, with Norwegian Bliss concluding the season in late October.

Environmental sustainability is a key focus for both the city and the cruise industry, with efforts aimed at ensuring that cruise vacations remain a viable and responsible choice for exploring Alaska's untouched landscapes. Initiatives include advancing maritime decarbonization, finalizing shore power for all Seattle cruise berths ahead of schedule, and establishing a green corridor for sustainable sailing. These efforts demonstrate a commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of cruising and preserving the region for future generations.

The Port of Seattle and the Cruise Lines International Association are dedicated to maintaining the balance between economic growth and environmental stewardship, ensuring that the Alaska cruise season continues to offer incredible experiences for travelers while protecting the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
