Sea Trials Successfully Completed for American Cruise Line’s Inaugural 'Coastal Cat' Vessel

American Cruise Lines has completed sea trials on its first "Coastal Cat" of 100 passengers, American Eagle.
The small-ship company accepted delivery as planned from Chesapeake Shipbuilding.
American Eagle is one of twelve new Coastal Cats planned. The next four vessels are currently under construction and will be delivered over the next 12 months. The boat is named after the American Cruise Lines first vessel from 1972, which was the first of its kind.
American Eagle will be embarking on its first passenger voyage in Massachusetts. The new ship, which will be based on the East Coast of the United States, will combine river cruising and expedition cruising. American Eagle's inaugural cruise will depart on August 14 with an eight-day itinerary "Cape Codder", round-trip from Boston.
"American Eagle embodies our continued commitment to building new small ships to explore America's rivers and coasts," said Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines. "It is the flagship in American Cruise Lines' new series of small Coastal Cats, which are unlike anything else available in the U.S. market. American Eagle and her sister ships will change the landscape of possibilities for small-ship adventures around the U.S.A."
The fleet of American has expanded. American Serenade was introduced just a few weeks after American Serenade - the company's 6th new modern riverboat. American plans to launch the second Coastal Cat in November 2023, American Glory.
The American Eagle has four decks, and a brand-new catamaran bow. The new Coastal Cat features private balconies in single and double occupancy staterooms, as well as suites. American Eagle offers a top-deck, lounges both inside and outside, a main dining room, casual café, and fitness centre.
