ScotRail Boosts Service for World Athletics Indoor Championships

ScotRail gears up for the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, adding extra stops at Dalmarnock station and urging customers to use the mTickets system for a smoother travel experience.
As Glasgow prepares to host the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships from 1st to 3rd March at the Emirates Arena, ScotRail is taking steps to ensure a seamless travel experience for attendees. Recognizing the expected surge in passenger volume during this high-profile sports weekend, the company is implementing additional service adjustments and offering travel advice to its customers.
To facilitate easier access to the event, ScotRail has introduced extra stops at Dalmarnock station, strategically located nearest to the Emirates Arena, across all days of the championship. This adjustment aims to enhance convenience for spectators traveling to and from the competition, underscoring ScotRail's commitment to supporting major events in the region.
ScotRail strongly advises customers to plan their journeys in advance and leverage the ScotRail app for ticket purchases. Utilizing the mTickets feature not only streamlines the ticketing process but also provides a contactless and eco-friendly alternative to traditional paper tickets. By adopting this digital approach, attendees can bypass the usual queues, securing their tickets digitally and ensuring a more efficient boarding process.
In anticipation of the increased footfall, ScotRail will deploy additional staff to assist passengers during the event. Moreover, the company reminds patrons of its policy against the carriage and consumption of alcohol on both trains and within stations, aiming to maintain a safe and pleasant environment for all travelers.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail's Customer Operations Director, expressed enthusiasm for hosting the international visitors and athletes, emphasizing the company's efforts to make travel as convenient as possible. Campbell highlighted the benefits of the mTicket system available via the ScotRail app, encouraging attendees to take advantage of this technology for a hassle-free travel experience to one of the year's most exciting athletic events.
