Schiphol Opens Chocolate House in Lounge 1

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has unveiled Chocolate House, a new high-end chocolate store in the recently renovated Lounge 1, developed in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail. The 75-square-meter boutique adds a touch of indulgence to the airport’s expanding retail lineup.

 

Travelers can enjoy a wide selection of international favorites such as Lindt, Leonidas, and Godiva, alongside celebrated Dutch chocolatiers including Visser Chocolate, De Bonte Koe, and MADAQ.

The store also features the first Pierre Hermé counter in the Netherlands, offering a curated assortment of the French pastry chef’s iconic macarons and chocolates. A handmade chocolate windmill serves as the shop’s centerpiece — a nod to Dutch tradition and craftsmanship.

“We want every step through Lounge 1 to surprise and inspire,” said Arthur Reijnhart, Chief Commercial Officer at Schiphol. “Chocolate House perfectly reflects our focus on quality and a unique traveler experience.”

Staff at Chocolate House have received specialized training, including sessions with Pierre Hermé’s Paris team, to ensure premium, personalized service.

“Every detail — from the handcrafted windmill to our trained team — was designed to deliver a premium and culturally rich shopping experience,” added Bruno Gouisset, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Netherlands.

The launch of Chocolate House is part of a wider revitalization of Lounge 1, which has expanded from 19,000 to 24,000 square meters and now includes 23 new retail and hospitality concepts. The transformation aims to elevate the quality, variety, and overall traveler experience at Schiphol.

Earlier this year, the airport also opened Today Duty Free, the largest retail space within its joint venture with Lagardère, marking another step in Schiphol’s retail modernization strategy.
