SAS Launches New Long-Haul Routes to Dubai and Thailand

Airlines & Airports

SAS Scandinavian Airlines has unveiled plans to expand its long-haul network for the Winter 2026/27 season, introducing new services to Dubai and two destinations in Thailand. The announcement reflects the airline’s strategy to broaden its global reach and provide customers in the Nordic region with more travel options during the winter months.

Beginning in winter 2026, SAS will launch a new non-stop service to Dubai International Airport (DXB), connecting Scandinavia with one of the Middle East’s major aviation hubs. The addition of Dubai is designed to serve both leisure travellers seeking sunshine and cultural experiences, as well as business passengers taking advantage of strong commercial ties between Scandinavia and the Middle East.

In addition to the Dubai route, SAS plans to operate new flights to Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand. These Asian beach and city destinations will be served in partnership with strategic arrangements that expand the airline’s presence in Southeast Asia, offering customers enhanced access to popular long-haul leisure markets from the Nordic region.

The new services will be introduced for the Winter 2026/27 schedule, catering to passengers travelling during the Northern Hemisphere’s colder months. By adding warm-weather destinations and key global hubs to its network, SAS aims to attract both holidaymakers and travellers seeking year-round connectivity beyond Europe.

SAS executives noted that the expanded long-haul programme complements the airline’s existing global routes and aligns with growing demand for direct international travel options from the Scandinavian markets. Further details on schedules, frequencies and aircraft deployments are expected as SAS finalises preparations for the winter season.

The move underscores SAS’s commitment to enhancing its transcontinental offerings and competing more broadly within key long-haul travel corridors, reinforcing Scandinavian connectivity to the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
