Sabre's Desktop Software To Provide Flight-Related Carbon Emission Statistics

Thanks to a partnership between Google and Sabre, travel agents can now verify airlines' carbon footprints.
Sabre's connection with Google dates back many years and gives passengers access to information about the most polluting flights, as well as the ones with the least effect on the environment. The goal of the partnership is to provide information useful to ecotourists so that they may make more educated ticket purchases.
Sabre's corporate responsibility leader, Kristin Hays, declared that the company will begin using emissions data from Google's Travel Impact Model.
“As a technology company that sits at the core of the travel ecosystem, we believe we can play an important role in identifying emissions data to help travelers make more informed decisions when booking travel”, she added.
GetThere is a tool provided by Sabre to its client companies for use by its workers when arranging business trips independently. Sabre is providing the carbon emission data to all GetThere customers, but businesses can choose whether or not to use it. Sabre's OTA customers are not yet included in the carbon emissions data that was made available to offline travel agencies earlier this quarter, but the company is considering incorporating carbon emission data into its platform.
Google is facilitating this data availability by taking part in the Travalyst partnership, which was created by Prince Harry. Carbon emissions from flights may be estimated using the alliance's Travel Impact Model. Skyscanner, Trip.biz, and Booking.com are just some of the Travalyst coalition's partners that have access to this data.
Sabre did not provide a direct explanation for the reason why it is not a member of the alliance; nevertheless, the company does provide numerous of its own sustainability solutions for travel agencies, airlines, and hotels, and it is trying to join into other collaborations. The company moved its data centres to Google Cloud at the beginning of their now four-year-old cooperation, and the two firms have since worked together on various artificial intelligence-related projects.
Sabre, headquartered in Texas, supplies technological infrastructure worldwide and reports managing annual travel expenditures of over $260 billion.
