S-Bahn disruptions to Berlin Airport set for late July

S-Bahn service to BER Airport disrupted in late July – passengers urged to plan ahead
Travelers heading to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) this July should prepare for significant disruptions to public transport services, particularly Berlin’s S-Bahn network, due to ongoing construction work.
From 24 July (around 4:00 AM) to 4 August (around 1:30 AM), only S-Bahn line S45 will operate between BER Airport and Südkreuz, with trains expected at 10-minute intervals. Line S9, which usually connects to the airport, will not run due to track work between Baumschulenweg and Treptower Park.
These disruptions are expected to be most noticeable during nighttime hours, with changes to regular schedules and potential route deviations. While not all interruptions are listed publicly, the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) website provides real-time updates and full replacement service details.
If buses are deployed as replacement services, they will depart from Willy-Brandt-Platz in Airport City.
Authorities strongly recommend that travelers plan their journey in advance and consult the VBB timetable information to avoid missed flights or long delays. The construction work is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving long-term service reliability in the Berlin region.
