TUI Group announced acquisition of “Legend of the Seas” from Royal Caribbean International by Thomson Cruises based in UK

TUI UK & Ireland is set to acquire the 63.000 tonne cruise ship through its Thomson Cruises subsidiary directly from its former owner, Royal Caribbean International.

The acquisition of the new vessel is a part of the global TUI Group cruise business expansion strategy.

“We continue to grow and invest in our own hotel and cruise portfolio.

“The introduction of ‘TUI Discovery 2’ in May 2017 will accelerate our transformation programme for Thomson Cruises.

“We are moving quickly to renew our fleet.

“With this ship, Thomson Cruises will be able to capitalise on strong growing demand.

“It is also our goal to enhance earnings opportunities in the future,” declared David Burling, executive board member at TUI Group.

The 915 cabins and 1.832 passengers capacity ship will double the facilities, all-inclusive dining and entertainment options for its customers.

Starting May 2017, the 6th impressive vessel of Thomson Cruises fleet will be renamed “TUI Discovery 2”.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed to the public.
