Royal Caribbean introduces lifeguards on deck

All of the cruise ships owned by the company will benefit on-board lifeguard assistance starting this year.
With this decision, Royal Caribbean is the second cruiser in the world to provide this service. The first one was Disney, who introduced this amenity in 2013, after a serious incident on one of its vessels.
The passengers’ safety programme will include permanent lifeguard watch at every pool on the ships. StarGuard Elite, a company based in Florida, will train and license the lifeguards, as the main focus of Royal Caribbean will be on children and younger passengers.
In addition to the life vests already provided by the cruise line, the signaling and the lifeguard service come to enhance the security of young guests. Moreover, water safety presentations will be provided at the beginning of every Adventure Ocean kids program session.
According to the American cruise company’s representatives the measure aims “to raise awareness amongst our guests about the importance of vigilance while enjoying water features on our ships.”
The latest safety standards are ready to be applied starting June on the entire Royal Caribbean fleet.
