Retroville shopping mall destroyed by Russian missile
The shopping complex and its parking lot were completely destroyed by the missile. According to official statements by the State Emergency Service, 63 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the flames.
Unfortunately, at least 8 people lost their lives in the attack, as the death toll could rise during the incoming hours, says Prosecutor General Iryna Venedictova.
French retailer Leroy Merlin lost one of its employees in the strike.
“Today, Leroy Merlin Ukraine was directly touched by the tragedy. And a destroyed shop is nothing compared to the lives of colleagues lost. We will always remember”, the company representatives declared.
Following the attack, pressure began to mount on the company to pull out of the Russian market. A petition was created for people supporting this cause to sign, considering the fact that Leroy Merlin home retailer and Mulliez are among the most active taxpayers in Russia.
