Recovery Strategy for Rhodes Unveiled by Greece's Tourism Ministry

News

Rhodes Island was affected by damaging fires, prompting tourists to abandon their holidays.

As for now, the Greek tourism ministry unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at returning tourism to this amazing destination in Greece. According to the announcement, the government has said that, together with the Greek National Tourist Organization (GNTO), promoting and marketing Rhodes overseas is an urgent objective.

Together with major travel operators and airlines, the ministry and GNTO will be conducting a co-advertising campaign. Co-marketing strategies involving GNTO overseas offices, regional business partners, and tour operators will be relied on to increase visitors to Rhodes.

The GNTO plans to enlighten important source markets including the UK, Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands, and Italy by sending reporters, bloggers, and influencers on tours in August. Furthermore, in order to achieve the most efficient outreach strategy, the ministry will work in continuous coordination with GNTO offices overseas, South Aegean Region officials, and local hospitality players.

Finally, the ministry will work to develop a long-term plan for promoting Rhodes based on information gathered from studies of prospective visitors. The island's unique qualities will be highlighted in the strategy for the future, but so will sustainability initiatives that will make it a model for the whole Mediterranean.

According to the Greek Ministry of Tourism, any tourism crisis must be considered as a prospect for upgrading and reinventing the reputation of the tourist destination.
